Septic Backups

Have you ever flushed your toilet, turned on the shower or faucet and had the toilet, shower or sink not drain?  You might be the victim of a septic system backup problem. There are many different reasons for a septic tank or septic system  back up. The septic system is a simple drain system. Your septic system deposits organic human waste into an underground holding tank through various pipes.  The waste is broken down by natural bacteria and enzymes while flowing through the pipes. Wastewater then flows out of the pipes into a drain field where it percolates through the soil.

A septic tank can back up if the underground pipes that connect to the house or septic tank are damaged or moved out of alignment. This situation can occur due to weather, geologic activity (earthquakes), or other destructive conditions affecting the ground surrounding the pipes. When harmful activity damages the septic system, it blocks the septic line causing the waste water to drain slowly or not at all. This can lead to unsanitary and unsafe living conditions.
